Coronation Event - King Georges Park, Brentwood

collage for website

We had a great day shared with our community on the Bank Holiday Monday after the Coronation where we were invited to provide the Cream Teas for the event as well as hosting the skatepark and skating competition.

The main purpose of the event was to show case as many voluntary services in Brentwood as possible, encouraging members of the community to explore volunteering and giving time to their communities.

We at DRCC are blessed with great volunteers, whether it be our toddler group Tots Aloud, Foodbank, our youth work DRCC Youth or at our Community Hub and being able to share these opportunities was great!

On the day, our Youth Work Team worked in partnership with Essex Youth Service, Brentwood Council, Rom Skatepark and artists from Brennan and Burch.

Messy Church (Feb 2023)

We had an amazing Sunday Messy Church Service! This was the first of a new programme that we have been exploring, that provides our families and the people in our local community access to church in a completely different and fresh way!

It was great to our usual congregation there as well as visitors of all ages!

We learnt about Jesus feeding over 5000 people and we all got involved in various activities, making people, bread, baskets and decorating fish!

We cannot wait for our next one!

Carol Service (2022)
Carol Service 2022

We have finally been able to bring back our Carols by Candlelight Services after 3 years of not being able to due to Covid-19.

It was lovely to see the church lit up again with all the Christmas decorations, candles and our nativity scene whilst being able to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ with our church family and our community.

Merry Christmas

Community Hub (2022)
Walkers Catering - Christmas Offer
WEB PIC

In December 2022, Walker's Catering, a local catering company approached us and said that they wanted to provide people withing the community with a free hot meal!

It was great to see so many people and families who use the Community Hub and Brentwood Foodbank access a very scrumptious lasagne with salad and garlic bread.

All in all Walker's Catering gave out just over 80 portions and everyone was very happy!

Thank you Walker's Catering!
Amazing work!

Lighting Up Brentwood (2022)
LUB22

We had an amazing day at Lighting Up Brentwood, celebrating and sharing time with our local community.

Our Nativity Scene saw many adults, children and families get involved in dressing up and learning the story of the nativity and the birth of Jesus.

Our Youth Team together with Essex Youth Service engaged with over 100 young people and went through 24L of Hot chocolate! It was great to be able to touch base with so many different young people.

It was a fantastic way to spend time together in fellowship and with our community, sharing the true meaning of Christmas!

Tots Aloud - Holiday Clubs (Summer 2022)
holiday club website post

Something that has been a new exploration this year (2022) has been our Tots Aloud Holiday Clubs!

During these 2-hour sessions the team split our church building into two halves, one side for ages 0-5 and the other, 5–10-year-olds. on each side there are age-appropriate activities from playmats, toys story or sing along time for toddlers to arts, crafts, drama, competitions and much more for the 5+s.

We were also blessed to have Marcus from Rocky's Animals join us on one of the sessions and bring a variety of animals for the children (and team) to handle!

On each holiday club session, we can see from 70 to 100+ adults and children come through our doors!

We cannot wait for the next one!

The Strawberry Affair (2022)The Strawberry Fair - Shenfield Common

strawberry affair

In June 2022 Dodd Road Community Church and DRCC Youth took part in The Strawberry Affair (also known as Strawberry Fair). Dodd Road Church has been in the privileged position of supplying strawberries to the fair for over the past decade! This year we were also able to team up with Essex Youth Service to provide a space for young people at the event. We love being part of these events serving and supporting our community alongside many partners!

The Queens Platinum Jubilee (2022)

party in the park

In June 2022 Dodd Road Community Church celebrated the Queen's Platinum Jubliee in style as we had a Picnic in the Park with another local church Pilgrims Hatch Baptist Church and Manna Meals!

We saw approximately 450 people show up to celebrate with us as we ate together and got involved in a wide variety of activities!

It was an amazing day!

Planning your Visit

A Warm Hello

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where and When

We meet at the Church Building (details here) for our Sunday Service starting at 10.30am. For your first visit, we recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early to ensure you get a parking space and find somewhere to sit before the service begins. When you arrive, you should be greeted by someone on our Welcome Team.

We serve tea, coffee and biscuits after the service which is a great way to meet people, or simply take time to find your bearings. All refreshments are free.

Accessibility: There is wheelchair access and a disabled toilet in the main foyer.

Our Service

The main service begins at 10.30am with a warm welcome from one of our team members. Then follows a time of sung worship, led by our worship team. We typically have 2 or 3 songs lasting approximately 20 minutes. Sometimes a person might pray out loud or read a small passage from the bible. Sometimes people share things that they believe God is saying to the whole church family. This might seem strange the first time you hear it but it’s all part of our connecting with God. One of our leaders will then give a sermon that is bible based and that we can apply to our everyday life. We then sing a final worship song and finish by sharing news and notices, usually about what’s going on in the life of the church.  Sometimes there is an opportunity to receive prayer at the end of the service.

What about my kids?

We have a great programme lined up for kids of all ages:

  • Creche (0 months to 5 years). Children under 6 months are welcome but must be accompanied by their parent/grown-up at all times.
  • Sunday School (5- 10 years)
  • Youth (11-15 years) Every other week.

Children stay with their parent or grown-up at the start of the service for the welcome and songs. We really value worshipping God all together as a family. At the end of the songs, someone will announce that it’s time for the younger members to go to their various groups.

The children and young people group activities vary depending on the age but usually there is a friendly welcome, bible stories, praying, music, craft and fun games.

Getting Connected

Small Groups

While Sundays are a great way to meet new people, it is often in smaller gatherings that you can really get to know someone. Being part of one of our small groups allows you to make new friends, share together and support each other. We have a variety of groups that meet throughout the week, some afternoons and some evenings. Check out Small Groups and see if there’s one that you could join, or we can put you in touch with a small group who would be more than happy to invite you along to their group.
